VietNamNet Bridge – The testing results announced on July 13 show that three rice samples collected in the southern province of Dong Thap are real rice, refuting the rumor about the appearance of fake rice in the southwestern region.

On Thursday, Mr. Phan Van Thuong, Chairman of Cao Lanh City People's Committee, Dong Thap Province, officially rejected the rumor, after getting the testing results from the relevant agency.

Previously, the local authorities reported the appearance of fake rice in Cao Lanh. The fake rice was said to melt down and curdle when roasted. Inspection was immediately conducted.

Inspectors met with Mr. Nguyen Khac Hieu, a resident in Hoa Khanh Hamlet, Hoa An Commune, Cao Lanh Township who purchased fake rice to collect information.

Hieu said several weeks ago, he bought 10kg of rice at the Thanh Thuy rice agent in Thuan Hoa Ward, which was suspected to be fake rice.

The inspection team collected three samples of rice, including a sample from Hieu's family, a sample from Thanh Thuy rice dealer and a sample from Tran Van Liet rice dealer, all in Ward 2, Cao Lanh town. 

Mr. Liet is the distributor of rice for Thanh Thuy rice agent.
The rice samples were sent to the testing agency and on July 12the testing results were revealed.
