A $50 million international hospital project in Hanoi has stood incomplete for over two decades.  

Licensed in 1997, Hanoi America International Hospital invested by the US’s Keystone Invest Group is located on a 27,000 square-metre site in Nghia Tan Ward, Cau Giay District. 

The hospital designed to have 300 beds was aimed to specialise in serious diseases such as cancer, brain, and heart problems.   

In 2001, Hanoi authorities revoked the land in Nghia Tan Ward to serve the project which has a lifetime of 40 years. However, to date, the hospital construction has remained half-finished.      

The project’s slow pace is said to be due to some problems related to the lack of funding and the investor is still apparently waiting for the Vietnamese Ministry of Defence’s permission on building a helipad on the roof. The change of the construction plan has also been blamed on slow construction by the contractors.
