South Korea was the largest tourist source market of Viet Nam with an estimated 258,946 arrivals. Coming in second was the US with an estimated 77,897 arrivals. Thailand was Viet Nam's third largest source of international visitors with an estimated 54,985 arrivals.

Although China has reopened its doors since January 8, the number of visitors from this country was estimated at 15,875.

International visitors to Viet Nam by air accounted for the majority with 91.9 percent; by road - 7.5 percent and by sea - 0.6 percent.

According to official statistics, tourism revenue in January 2023 was estimated at VND2,200 billion, up 113.4 percent over the same period last year.

From January 21 to January 26, localities across the country reported a sharp increase in the number of international visitors compared to the same period last year.

This result is thanks to a number of key tourism localities that actively cooperated with airlines and travel businesses to organize a series of events to attract international visitors.

Besides, travel agencies have built many tourism products to serve the Lunar New Year, bringing many choices to visitors on the basis of highlighting regional advantages, linking destinations, diversifying services and experiences and attracting international visitors to Viet Nam.

Travel experts around the world forecasted that 2023 would see a strong growth in international travel demand. Viet Nam tourism will not be out of this trend.

Therefore, General Director of the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) Nguyen Trung Khanh said that 2023 would have many breakthroughs in both the number of visitors and revenue.

In 2023, VNAT and related agencies will actively conduct promotional activities throughout the year such as participating in international events and promoting national tourism on major media channels./. VGP
