On September 29, police in District 11 of Ho Chi Minh City continued their investigation into a stage collapse at the Miss Cosmo 2024 event held at the Phu Tho Gymnasium, which resulted in injuries to one person.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of September 28, as technical staff were finalizing the main stage for the international beauty pageant. Suddenly, the stage lighting system came crashing down from a height of approximately 5 meters.
Eyewitness reports indicate that the lights fell onto the performance area and some of the audience seating.
The collapse resulted in minor injuries to a technical staff member and minor scratches to several others. Following the accident, police from District 11, along with other relevant units, arrived at the scene to examine the area and determine the cause of the collapse.
Miss Cosmo 2024 marks the first international beauty contest hosted in Ho Chi Minh City, featuring participants from over 50 countries and territories. The Phu Tho Gymnasium is slated to host both the semifinal on October 2 and the final on October 5.
