The 103-kilometer railway will run from Vung An to Mu Gia through Tan Ap and have eight stations. The project will be executed under the public-private partnership with capital amounting to around VND27,485 billion.

The Vung An-Tan Ap-Mu Gia railway section is a crucial part of the railway project connecting Vientiane in Laos and Vung An in Ha Tinh Province, Vietnam.

The Vietnam-Laos railway project, outlined in the national railway development plan from 2021 to 2030, with a vision towards 2050, has received government approval with an investment roadmap before 2030.
