According to a reliable leak source, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to feature the largest battery ever in an iPhone, while the Pro models may shift to aluminum frames.
Battery capacity and SIM tray details for iPhone 17
Leaked battery specifications for the iPhone 17 series, reportedly sourced from a Chinese database, indicate some impressive figures.
The iPhone 17 will house a 3,692mAh battery, the iPhone 17 Air a 3,149mAh battery, the iPhone 17 Pro a 4,252mAh battery, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max a 5,088mAh battery.
Notably, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to be the first iPhone with a battery capacity surpassing 5,000mAh, promising the longest battery life of any iPhone to date.
While an earlier rumor suggested that the iPhone 17 Air would eliminate the SIM tray, the battery leak also referenced a variant with a physical SIM slot. This points to the likelihood of wider availability across various markets, including China.
New design makes iPhone 17 Pro Max thicker
According to rumors, the iPhone 17 Pro Max will be thicker than its predecessor, measuring 8.725mm compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s 8.25mm. The added space may be intended to accommodate the larger battery and enhanced camera features.
In addition, both the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are expected to transition from titanium frames to aluminum ones. The new design includes a glass section covering the bottom two-thirds of the back panel to support wireless charging.
With the combination of aluminum and glass, the overall weight of these models could be on par with or lighter than the iPhone 16 series.
iPhone 17 accessories and other expected product launches
Leaked images of iPhone 17 cases suggest the inclusion of a mount for a crossbody strap. Another image shows a bright orange strap featuring a flexible metal core and magnetic attachment points, indicating Apple’s interest in integrated accessories.
Rumors also suggest Apple will unveil a new range of iPhone 17 accessories, including fabric cases, crossbody straps, and battery cases specifically for the iPhone 17 Air.
Beyond the iPhone, the upcoming "Awe Dropping" event is also expected to introduce other product lines.
Among them are two versions of the AirPods Pro 3: a standard version and a premium model equipped with an infrared camera for gesture control.
The latest rumors confirm that Apple will also unveil the Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch SE 3, and Apple Watch Ultra 3, all powered by the new S11 chip built on the same architecture as the current S10.
