The iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone 18 Pro, expected to launch in September 2026, are gradually coming into focus through a series of notable leaks - with battery life and charging speed emerging as the features drawing the most attention.

Beyond anticipated changes in design, color options, or even a variable aperture camera system similar to DSLR technology, battery endurance and charging performance remain top priorities for users.

According to leaks, Apple may be preparing a significant jump in battery capacity for the new generation. Most notably, the iPhone 18 Pro Max is rumored to surpass the 5,000 mAh threshold for the first time.

Some sources suggest the battery could reach between 5,100 mAh and 5,200 mAh, making it the largest ever in an iPhone.

The standard iPhone 18 Pro is also expected to see improvements, potentially featuring a battery ranging from 4,100 mAh to 4,250 mAh, continuing the gradual increase seen in the previous generation.

Battery life could reach two days with A20 Pro chip

A larger battery is only part of the story. Equally important is the new processor. Both models are likely to be powered by the A20 Pro chip, built on an advanced 2nm process.

Rumors indicate that this chip could improve energy efficiency by up to 30% compared to its predecessor.

Combined with higher battery capacity, this could deliver a meaningful leap in real-world usage.

In an optimistic scenario, the iPhone 18 Pro Max could achieve up to two days of battery life - a long-standing aspiration for many iPhone users.

However, Apple is not expected to adopt silicon-carbon battery technology yet, a solution currently being explored by some Android manufacturers. This suggests the company is continuing its cautious approach, focusing instead on optimizing hardware and software integration.

Faster 45W charging: Apple begins to catch up

Apple has long been known for its conservative stance on charging speeds. The iPhone 18 Pro lineup, however, may mark a notable shift.

Reports suggest wired charging could reach around 45W, an increase from the roughly 40W seen on the iPhone 17 Pro. While still behind many high-end Android devices, this represents clear progress.

With the appropriate charger, users may be able to charge from 0 to 50% in around 20 minutes or even faster - a level of performance that meets everyday demands.

Wireless charging is expected to remain a strong point. The iPhone 18 Pro series will likely continue to support the MagSafe ecosystem alongside the Qi2 standard.

Currently, the iPhone 17 Pro supports wireless charging up to 25W via Qi2. While not the fastest, it offers sufficient convenience for most users. Apple may further refine this performance, though no major upgrade has been confirmed.

Since the iPhone 15, Apple has transitioned to USB-C, and this will undoubtedly continue with the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Users will be able to use existing USB-C cables for charging.

However, to achieve maximum charging speeds, higher-wattage adapters will be required. As in recent years, Apple is expected not to include a charger in the box.

Overall, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could bring meaningful improvements in battery and charging - two factors that directly shape the user experience.

Larger batteries, more efficient chips, and faster charging speeds may help Apple narrow the gap with Android competitors, even as the company maintains its measured approach to upgrades.
