Leaks surrounding Apple’s next-generation iPhone lineup continue to emerge at a rapid pace, particularly regarding the premium iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models.
The latest supply chain reports have revealed additional details about the design of Apple’s top-tier flagship for 2026. This round of leaks focuses on aluminum frame color options, device thickness and what could be a significantly upgraded battery.
Dark Cherry could become Apple’s signature color for 2026
According to the latest information, Apple is reportedly testing three different aluminum frame finishes for the iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone 18 Pro: Dark Cherry, Cloud Blue and Black.
Among them, Dark Cherry has attracted the most attention. The deep red shade, inspired by red wine tones, has been repeatedly mentioned by industry sources in recent months as a potential centerpiece of Apple’s premium lineup.
If introduced commercially, Dark Cherry could become the flagship color used throughout Apple’s marketing campaign, much like Blue Titanium, Desert Titanium or Cosmic Orange on previous generations.
Recently leaked images provide a clearer look at how the finish appears on the device. The combination of a dark red metallic frame and premium materials creates a sophisticated appearance distinct from the more familiar color palettes Apple has traditionally favored.
Cloud Blue is also generating considerable interest among technology enthusiasts. The shade is described as brighter and more vibrant than previous blue finishes seen on earlier iPhones. Combined with the metallic frame, the color could create a more eye-catching effect under varying lighting conditions.
Meanwhile, the Black version is expected to appeal to users who prefer a minimalist and understated aesthetic. It will likely serve as the safest and most traditional option in the iPhone 18 Pro lineup.
Could this become the heaviest iPhone ever?
One of the most surprising claims from the latest leaks concerns the device’s physical dimensions.
According to Ice Universe, a well-known Weibo-based leaker with a strong track record on smartphone releases, the iPhone 18 Pro Max will retain the same 8.75mm thickness as the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
This contradicts earlier predictions suggesting Apple would slightly increase the thickness of the device to accommodate larger internal components, particularly a new battery system. Ice Universe had previously speculated that the next-generation Pro Max might be marginally thicker than its predecessor.
Maintaining the current thickness suggests Apple is attempting to balance battery life with overall ergonomics. For years, the company has prioritized slim and refined designs despite the space limitations that come with them.
If these reports prove accurate, users are unlikely to notice any meaningful difference in hand feel compared with the iPhone 17 Pro Max. However, that does not necessarily mean the weight will remain unchanged.
Despite retaining the same thickness, several industry sources believe the iPhone 18 Pro Max could become the heaviest iPhone ever released.
The increase is reportedly linked to multiple internal hardware upgrades, particularly a larger battery. The device is expected to exceed 240 grams, making it heavier than the current generation.
This trend has become increasingly common among flagship smartphones. As manufacturers continue to add larger batteries, more advanced camera systems and enhanced cooling technologies, device weight has steadily increased.
Nevertheless, many analysts believe consumers are willing to accept additional weight in exchange for longer battery life and more consistent performance.

Beyond design changes, the most closely watched rumor concerns battery capacity.
Prominent leaker Digital Chat Station claims the iPhone 18 Pro Max could feature a battery rated between 5,100mAh and 5,200mAh.
If accurate, it would be the largest battery ever installed in an iPhone. The capacity would surpass the 5,088mAh battery reportedly used in the eSIM version of the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Although the numerical increase may appear modest, improvements in processor efficiency, display technology and iOS power management could deliver noticeable gains in real-world endurance.
This is particularly important as AI-powered features become increasingly resource-intensive and place greater demands on smartphone hardware and battery performance.
Many industry observers believe Apple’s objective is to make the iPhone 18 Pro Max the longest-lasting iPhone ever. If current reports are accurate, the device could attract attention not only for its new color options but also for setting a new benchmark in battery life among premium smartphones.
