On a fresh morning in early 2025, Ambassador Yaron Mayer embarked on a special journey on Hanoi’s Metro Line 3, accompanied by Khuat Viet Hung, Chairman of the Hanoi Metro Board of Members. The trip began at Cau Giay Station (S8), part of the Nhon – Hanoi Station line.

From the moment he purchased his ticket and boarded the train, the ambassador was impressed by the modern, comfortable infrastructure.

“This is a fantastic experience, making me feel as if I were in any other developed city around the world,” he shared.

According to him, the operation of the metro is not only a major achievement for Hanoi but also a testament to Vietnam’s determination to build a world-class public transportation system.

Although Metro Line 3 is just the beginning of Hanoi’s long-term urban transit plan, Ambassador Mayer sees it as a significant milestone.

“I want to congratulate everyone who contributed to this success. This is truly an outstanding achievement,” he said.

Strengthening Vietnam-Israel collaboration in science and technology

Beyond his admiration for Hanoi Metro, Ambassador Mayer also expressed his appreciation for Vietnam’s rapid advancements in science, technology, and digital transformation.

He recently attended a major conference on innovation and digital transformation, where he witnessed Vietnam’s proactive approach in implementing new policies and technological solutions.

In particular, he highlighted Resolution 57, a timely and strategic policy that provides direction and resources for Vietnam’s scientific, technological, and digital transformation initiatives.

“Israel has extensive experience in these fields, and we are excited to collaborate with Vietnam. We have already established effective partnerships in many sectors. We recognize the talent and enthusiasm of the Vietnamese people and understand how both countries can support each other to achieve even greater success,” Ambassador Mayer affirmed.

Expanding partnerships and future potential

For years, Vietnam and Israel have enjoyed a fruitful partnership, particularly in agriculture. Many Vietnamese interns have traveled to Israel to learn about advanced irrigation, greenhouse technology, and modern farming techniques.

“Agriculture has been a strong foundation, but the next step in our cooperation should focus on metro systems and other innovative fields like information technology,” the ambassador emphasized.

The Free Trade Agreement signed between the two countries last year has paved the way for expanded economic collaboration. Ambassador Mayer hopes the private sector will seize this opportunity to foster deeper partnerships that benefit both nations.

Fostering an innovation ecosystem and empowering young talent

Ambassador Mayer is particularly impressed with Vietnam’s rapid urban and technological development.

“There’s something new happening every month, or even every few months,” he remarked.

He believes that the key to sustaining this growth lies in fostering a strong innovation ecosystem - starting with education and strengthening connections between government agencies, private enterprises, and universities.

Drawing from Israel’s experience, he emphasized the importance of encouraging and supporting startups.

“Failures are inevitable, but with perseverance and experience, success will come. The crucial factor is to provide the right conditions for startups to thrive, and government support plays a vital role in this,” he said.

The ambassador also praised Vietnam’s young generation, describing them as talented, dynamic, and highly capable.

“Many international companies, including Israeli firms, are investing in Vietnam to tap into this incredible potential,” he noted.

Several exchange programs and delegation visits between the two countries are underway to encourage young professionals to explore opportunities for collaboration.

Celebrating Tet and embracing Vietnamese culture

As the Lunar New Year approaches, Ambassador Mayer extended his best wishes to the Vietnamese people.

He sees Tet not only as a time for cultural and culinary exploration but also as an opportunity to deepen his understanding of the country where he lives and works.

The ambassador shared that he plans to travel and explore different parts of Vietnam during the holiday, immersing himself further in its traditions.

“Chúc mừng năm mới! Wishing everyone a prosperous and joyful New Year,” he said, concluding his meaningful metro journey.
