VietNamNet Bridge – The training ship Kojima of the Japanese Coast Guard with 71 officers, sailors, and apprentices led by colonel Hiroyuki Nanaura and captain Hiroshi Kai landed at the Tien Sa port of Da Nang city on July 25th.

During the four day visit, the vessel commanders and officers will meet with officials of Da Nang, the High Command of Vietnam Coast Guard, Centre for Searching and Rescue Region 2, and have a friendly volleyball game with the Vietnam Coast Guard region 2.

This is the second visit to Da Nang of Kojima.

The first visiton July 30th 2013. That time the ship with a tonnage of 3,500 tons was commanded by Naomi Kawakami with 82 sailors and trainees, including trainees from the Philippines and Singapore.

Kojima can run at 18 nautical miles per hour. Weapons on board include 30 mm cannons, 20 mm rotary cannons, 13 mm machine guns...

The two countries are active members of the Regional Co-operation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP) and Heads of Asian Coast Guard Agencies Meeting (HACGAM), and have closely co-operated to improve maritime law enforcement.

Earlier, on 07.30.2013, Kojima JCGS training ship bearing number PL 21 (load of 3,500 tons, 115 meters long, 14 meters wide, 7.3 meters deep, speed 18 knots / hour) with 82 hydro defense and trainee Japan Coast Guard also visited Da Nang.

In October 2013, two training ships Kashima, Shirayuki and the corvette Isoyuki of the Japan Coast Guard led by Rear Admiral Kitagawa Fumiyuki and 750 officers and sailors paid a four-day visit to Da Nang.

Most recently, in May 2015, JCGS Yashima vessel of the Japan Coast Guard went to Da Nang to join a workshop on search and rescue with the Vietnam Coast Guard.
