VietNamNet Bridge - Japan is considering inviting leaders of seven countries out of the Group of Seven or G7, including Vietnam, to attend an enlarged meeting of G7, scheduled to take place in central Japan in May.

According to NHK, the recent G7 summits (including the UK, Germany, Italy, Canada, USA, France and Japan) recent were extended, with the participation of guests from countries.

At this year's summit, the Japanese government plans to focus on the challenges facing the Asia-Pacific region. Tokyo is expected to invite leaders of the major countries in the region to ameeting of G7 with the theme “linking for development”.

The seven countries that may be invited to the meeting are three ASEAN countries - Indonesia, Laos (currently the chair of ASEAN), and Vietnam, Chad (now the chair of the African Ally), Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Papua New Guinea.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and the heads of the relevant international organizations are expected to attend the G7.

The summit will take place on May 26 and 27 in GIse-Shima, Mie Prefecture, Japan.
