The project, which will be carried out between 2025 and 2028, has a total investment of about 29 million USD. Of the sum, 28.4 million USD is non-refundable aid from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the rest comes from the city’s budget.
Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Duong Tan Hien said Can Tho is finalising the project before submitting it to the Government and National Assembly for approval. This is a large-scale and important project so it is very necessary to carefully prepare steps to ensure its quality and satisfy the set target.
The official asked the city’s functional agencies to complete procedures, and the Japanese Group to coordinate closely with the city and central ministries and sectors, especially JICA to soon implement the project. He affirmed that Can Tho will direct relevant agencies to collaborate with Fujitsu Limited and create favourable conditions so that the project to be implemented and completed as soon as possible.
According to Watatu Sudou, Vice President for International Cooperation of Fujitsu Limited, the project's phases have been completed and received active collaboration from agencies and departments of Can Tho city.
He suggested Can Tho city and Vietnamese ministries and sectors put forth a proposal to the Japanese Government on official development assistance funding for this project. The group hoped that the Vietnamese side will quickly complete the procedures in August, he said, adding that it expected that the two sides will continue to coordinate closely to speed up the progress of the project./.VNA
