More than 15,000 Japanese books were on display during the second Japanese Book Week ​at the Japanese book section at Fahasa (HCM City Books Distribution JSC) Bookshop on Nguyen Hue Street in Ho Chi Minh City which opened on June 1.

The 10-day exhibition is jointly organised by Fahasa and the Japanese bookstore group Kinokuniya.

The exhibition displays new and bestselling books from Japanese authors.

Among the books are those for Japanese-language study, children’s books, Japanese culture, literature, novels, economy, fashion, architecture, gardening, and cooking techniques.

There are also Japanese magazines as well as manga - Japanese comics - and books on Japanese animated films for youth, and gifts related to characters in well-known Japanese storybooks.

Japanese-language study books and children’s books on display are from publishers such as Fukuinkan, Kaiseisha and Tokuma-shoten.

Books on literature, fashion, architecture, gardening and cooking techniques are from publishers Bunka-Shuppan, Boutique-sha and Graphic-Sha.

Manga and animated books for children and teenagers are published by Kodansa, Kadokanwa, Shogakukan, and Shucisha.

Over 6,000 manga, including titles Naruto, Fairy Tale, Detective and Ace of Diamond; Detective Conan; Bleach, Pedal Speed; Magi; Vagabond; Kisekoi, One Piece, and Attack in Titan. 

The exhibition also includes textbooks for learning Japanese and dictionaries for Japanese study.

Pham Minh Thuan, CEO of Fahasa, said this year’s book exhibition was held following the success of the first Japanese book exhibition and the opening of the Japanese book section at the Fahasa Bookshop in May 2016.
