Visitors rush to Dam Dong Lotus Pond to see the Koi fish: Photo by Danviet.

Dam Dong Lotus Pond covering 3.5 hectares is located by Nhat Chieu Street in Quang An Ward. In June, Quang An Ward signed a contract with a firm to allow it to release eight tonnes of Japanese Koi fish into the pond. However, only the lotus plantation is permitted to use the pond.

A representative from the Tay Ho District People's Committee said that Quang An Ward had been requested to stop the Koi fish-breeding contract at Dam Dong Lotus Pond.

Since the Koi fish were released, many visitors have flocked to Dam Dong Lotus Pond. The pond is around 1.2-1.4 metres deep, but the entry to the Koi fish area is quite narrow and lacks fencing, posing dangers for visitors.

Some children have fallen into the pond, but have been rescued.

In the coming time, the pond will only focus on growing lotus to help preserve the tradition of lotus tea making in Tay Ho District.
