The performance will be presented on March 30-31.

The play was created on September 2017 after workshops and rehearsals with Vietnamese artists. It was performed for the first time at the Kanagawa Art Theatre in Yokohama, Japan by four Japanese and four Vietnamese performers.

The performance ‘Without Signal’ was inspired by the street scenes in Vietnam of cars, motorbikes and pedestrians proceeding smoothly even at a busy crossroad. The director felt that they seem to move freely at first glance.

However, observing carefully, he thought people must have some kind of discipline to keep a safe space and distance from others while keeping the traffic flowing in all directions in an artful balance of movement.

Onodera founded Derashinera company in 2006, specialising in producing and performing art works based on the techniques of mime. They are much more like theatrical work than dance. With unique styles, Derashinera company’s works have attracted regular large audiences.

They performed for the first time in Vietnam in 2016.
