The Japanese Maritime Self-Defence Force’s submarine Kuroshio docked at Cam Ranh International Port in the south central coastal province of Khanh Hoa on September 17, beginning a five-day visit to Vietnam.

This is the first visit to Vietnam by the Japanese submarine. The visit is part of activities celebrating the 45th founding anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations and realising agreements between senior leaders of the two countries and their defence ministries.
The visit is also expected to enhance mutual trust and understanding between the Vietnam People’s Navy and the Japanese Maritime Self-Defence Force, thereby deepening bilateral defence collaboration and contributing to peace, stability and cooperation in the region.
While in Vietnam, officers of the submarine will pay courtesy calls on leaders of Khanh Hoa province and the High Command of Naval Region 4.
In addition, they will also participate in sport and professional exchange events with officers and soldiers of the Naval Region 4 and visit famous destinations in Nha Trang city.-VNA
