According to Nikkei, Japan’s security service provider Sohgo Security Service (known as Alsok) decided to buy 49 percent of shares (maximum level) of Hai Phong Royal Security Service Company, which is based in the northern port city of Hai Phong.

The $9.57 million deal is expected to bring Alsok's revenues in Vietnam to nearly $10 million a year and turn it into one of the top security companies in Vietnam.

Alsok set up its first Vietnamese subsidiary in 2009 to sell security equipment to Japanese companies operating in the country. It has also been referring these clients to local security providers under a tie-up deal.

Alsok wants to provide its information technology-based security guard dispatch and remote monitoring services to the Vietnamese operations of Japanese businesses through Royal Haiphong Security Service.

The Japanese firm also plans to put Hai Phong Royal Security Service’s 1,800 security guards through a training program developed in Japan and to provide its services to Vietnamese companies and government agencies.

Secom, the No. 1 security player in Japan, also operates in Vietnam.
