Hundreds of thousands of tons of rice in Mekong Delta remain unsold as merchants have stopped collecting rice. Farmers fear the rice price will drop dramatically if Vietnam stops exporting rice.

The Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang will focus on increasing the value and competitiveness of its agriculture produce this year.

Authorities in Phu Quoc said the island must find a permanent solution to its flooding problem after it experienced the worst flooding in its history this month.

In Kien Luong district of Kien Giang province, shrimp and fishes have all died because of the polluted water. Local people have to desert their homeland because they have no more means of subsistence.
