Choi Jong-rak is a YouTuber from South Korea who has been living in HCM City for five years

The YouTube channel has 924,000 followers, and each video attracts tens of thousand to millions of views.

With his passion for Vietnamese cuisine, Jongrak spends time trying local specialties, from super cheap to luxury, sitting at both pavement shops and luxury restaurants.

Most recently, Jongrak visited a restaurant in the Landmark 81 high-rise building in Binh Thanh district to eat com tam, a cheap and common dish that sells for a high price of VND550,000 at the restaurant.

The South Korean man said he wanted to try the most expensive version of the street dish.

Jongrak ordered a serving with full toppings, including grilled pork, pork skin, egg pies, and trung bac thao (century egg). In addition, the dish was served with top mo (cracklings), pickled vegetables, sweet and sour sauce, and a separate soup.

Jongrak believes the "broken rice" dish at the restaurant was expensive because of special ingredients. The rice is ST 25 rice, a variety that was recognized as the most delicious rice in the world in 2019 and 2023.

As for the grilled pork, it was made of the famous Iberico meat from purebred black pigs that are naturally grazed in Spain. Piglets are fed with natural grains from birth until eight months old.

In addition to rice and meat, the egg pies are made from goose meat instead of pork as commonly seen in Vietnam.

The Korean man was lavish with his praise for the dish.

Diners can also enjoy the view of the whole city at the restaurant, which adds to the price, he said.
