According to the plan, from now until 2023, many models for developing the night economy will be implemented in Da Lat City.

3 night-economy models in Da Lat

Having favorable conditions to develop the night-time economy, the People's Committee of Da Lat City has decided to implement three models of night-time economic development in the area.

Accordingly, the 3 models include: a water music park at the City Flower Garden; night street in Hoa Binh area, Ba Thang Hai street, Truong Cong Dinh, Tang Bat Ho, Nguyen Chi Thanh (Ward 1) and the culinary street in Hoang Van Thu lake area, Tran Le street (Ward 4) of Da Lat city.

In the period of 2024 - 2030, the city will form a pedestrian area on Tran Quoc Toan street (from Dinh Tien Hoang - Tran Quoc Toan intersection to Da Lat City Flower Garden) with a length of about 1,600m; a night market in Light Park (Ward 1), the open park area - exhibition hall - book street at Xuan Huong Park, Ward 3; Complex of tourist areas and destinations such as Valley of Love, Mong Mo Hill, and Thong Nhat Hill.

After that, Da Lat will have future night-time economic models such as Hoa Binh Central Area (Ward 1, Ward 2); Tran Quoc Toan Park (Ward 10); Lu Gia residential area (Ward 9); Tuyen Lam Lake National Tourist Area (Ward 3, Ward 4); Prenn Lake tourist area (Ward 3, Ward 10, Ward 11); Cam Ly new residential area (Ward 5); walking street along Cam Ly stream (Ward 5).

According to the People's Committee of Da Lat City, the development of the night-time economy is based on promoting the advantages of climate, natural landscape and the 'gentle, elegant, hospitable' culture of Da Lat people, with the participation of investors and the residential community of Da Lat city.

The goal is to form and develop new models of sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment at night to exploit and promote the potential for local nighttime economic development; contributing to a positive impact in changing the city's nighttime appearance of Da Lat, reducing traffic pressure in the central area, increasing income, improving people's lives, developing products and services to serve tourists and residents. However, developing the night economy must go with limiting risks and negative impacts on political security and social order and safety in the province.

Good conditions to develop the night-time economy

In August 2023, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued a Decision to promulgate the project on a number of models for developing night tourism products according to the Prime Minister's Decision.

Lam Dong is one of 12 localities across the country that will coordinate to implement the project thanks to its convergence of conditions to develop the night-time economy.

Lam Dong’s forest ecosystem is very diverse and rich over 600,000 hectares, with 2 national parks of Bidoup Nui Ba and Cat Tien; and the Langbiang World Biosphere Reserve recognized by UNESCO.

On the other hand, Lam Dong owns two world heritage sites: The gong cultural space of Lam Dong's indigenous ethnic groups belongs to the Central Highlands gong cultural space, recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity and the Nguyen Dynasty Woodblocks currently kept at Tran Le Xuan Palace - Da Lat that are recognized by UNESCO as a documentary heritage under the Memory of the World program...

Lam Dong province has over 2,500 tourist accommodation establishments, including 457 hotels from 1 - 5 stars, 36 tourist attractions and areas invested and exploited for business along with more than 60 other free attractions (natural landscapes, architectural works, religious facilities, craft villages, archaeological indigenous villages, etc.), 51 travel and tourism transport businesses, of which 33 are international travel businesses. Every year, Lam Dong welcomes over 7 million domestic and international tourists.

In addition, transportation infrastructure continues to be invested and developed, enhancing connectivity with the regional transportation network. Regarding roads, National Highway 20, National Highway 27, provincial roads DT.721, 724, 725, ring roads, urban roads, district, commune and rural roads are of interest for investment.

Lam Dong province is actively coordinating with central agencies and Dong Nai province to carry out investment procedures for the Dau Giay – Lien Khuong expressway to create smooth conditions for traffic. At the same time, the public transportation system continues to develop, shortening travel time, creating convenience for people and tourists when visiting and relaxing in Da Lat - Lam Dong. Airways continue to develop, opening new routes connecting domestic provinces and overseas.

With the potential and advantages of climate, nature and unique culture, Da Lat - Lam Dong meets all the conditions to develop the night-time economy. It can also become one of the night economic centers of the country and the region in the near future, if we have high determination and strong actions.
