Authorities had earlier identified a group of armed individuals suspected of involvement in narcotics-related criminal activities during a joint patrol operation in the border area. Police subsequently deployed forces to conduct an inspection and interception.

However, upon spotting law enforcement officers, the suspects reportedly opened fire and attempted to escape.

During the pursuit, Lenh allegedly resisted arrest with a knife and attacked a police officer, causing injuries while officers worked to bring him under control.

Despite the violent resistance, officers successfully subdued and arrested the suspect.

Investigators seized 20 bricks of heroin and 30 bricks of synthetic narcotics with a combined weight exceeding 23 kilograms. Authorities also confiscated a knife and a number of related items believed to be connected to the case.

Son La Provincial Police said they are continuing to coordinate with relevant forces to track down and apprehend the remaining suspects, who fled across the border following the confrontation.
