A large rock suddenly fell onto a car in the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau, killing the driver.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of June 3 on National Highway 12 in Le Loi Commune, Nam Nhun District where the car was being parked there.  

According to Lo Van Sinh, chairman of Le Loi Commune People’s Committee, the car was completely ruined and the driver named Phan Seo Pin from Phong Tho District died on the spot.

Sinh added that torrential rains on June 2 in Le Loi Commune might have caused the landslide which then led to the rock fall.
