The match began with high intensity as Vietnam quickly applied pressure. Within the first two minutes, Minh Quang and Ngoc Anh both fired shots that forced the Indonesian defense into early action.
However, it was Indonesia who struck first. In the 4th minute, from a quick throw-in on the left, Brian Ick’s shot deflected off Nhan Gia Hung, wrongfooting goalkeeper Van Tu and putting the hosts ahead.
Vietnam struggled to break down Indonesia’s disciplined defensive structure. Their task became even tougher in the 11th minute when a midfield error by Da Hai allowed Adriansyah Nur to pounce and double the home team’s lead.
Entering the second half with a two-goal deficit, Vietnam pushed forward and found a breakthrough in the 25th minute. Capitalizing on a quick counterattack, Da Hai finished first-time to reduce the gap to 1-2.
Just minutes later, Indonesia re-established their two-goal cushion with a powerful shot from Reza Gunawan in the 27th minute.
Coach Diego Giustozzi's side continued to fight, adopting a power-play strategy in the final stretch of the game. Their persistence paid off in the 35th minute when Da Hai netted his second with a fierce strike off the underside of the crossbar.
Despite several close chances, including a late double attempt by captain Manh Dung, Vietnam couldn’t find the equalizer and had to accept a 2-3 loss.
