An artwork of late artist Nguyen Lai
Painter/photographer Nguyen Lai, who died on January 12, 2016 at the age of 68, had many southern people-focused exhibitions at home and abroad.
Having lived for five years in the U.S., Lai came back to Vietnam in 2001 and established a drawing studio.
A highlight in his career was an exhibition titled Coi tinh lang (tranquil place) in 2005 in which Lai used masks and lighting effects to express his thoughts about life.
In the forthcoming exhibition which commemorates Nguyen Lai, organizers will display eight among 50 mask-theme photos.
Lai stuck to the painting style using square canvas and called it square abstract.
A press conference on and an opening ceremony of the exhibition will take place on April 5 at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. respectively at the HCMC Museum of Fine Arts, 97A Pho Duc Chinh Street, District 1, HCMC.
