On December 22, 2025, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed a decision to appoint Le Manh Hung - Chairman of the Members’ Council of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (now known as the National Industrial and Energy Group) - to serve as the acting Minister of Industry and Trade.
Hung was born on October 24, 1973, in Hung Yen Province. He holds a degree in petrochemical organic technology, a PhD in petrochemical science, and has completed advanced political theory training.
Before taking on this new ministerial post, Hung held several key leadership positions at the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PVN), including Deputy General Director, General Director, and Chairman of the Members’ Council. He also held leadership roles at PVN’s subsidiaries.
His appointment comes following a Politburo decision to assign Nguyen Hong Dien - Central Party Committee member and former Minister of Industry and Trade - as Deputy Party Secretary in charge of the Party Committee of the National Assembly.
As of now, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is supported by four deputy ministers: Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, Phan Thi Thang, Truong Thanh Hoai, and Nguyen Hoang Long.
