Although Liem maintained his undefeated streak after seven matches of the tournament with a record of five points coming from three wins and four draws, he lost a total of 5.1 Elo points after failing to beat his lower rated rival. He is now ranked 13th, one point lower than the tournament’s four leading chess players.

Due to the result, Liem’s Elo rating is now 2697, meaning he is three points short of the 2700 required to make the list of international super grandmasters.

Despite the setback, Liem has the chance to improve his Elo rating over the course of the next two matches.
