Vietnam’s No 1 chess player Le Quang Liem finished ninth at the Gibraltar International Chess Festival 2019 which concluded yesterday.

Liem looks happy with his performance at the Gibraltar Chess Festival 2019. 

In the final round, Liem defeated Santos Latasa Jaime of Spain in 41 moves.

The triumph helped Liem finish on seven points (five wins, four draws, one loss) and rank ninth.

He received a prize of $2,200.

Russian GM Artemiev Vladislav won the event.

Overall it was a successful tournament for Liêm given the strength of the field. — VNS
