According to the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee on June 28, the People's Committee of Tam Chuc Ward submitted a report on the wildfire in the protected forest area on Cao San Mountain, located in Doai residential quarter.

The fire broke out at around 8 p.m. on June 27 in a protected forest area on Cao San Mountain near the boundary between Tam Chuc Ward and Ly Thuong Kiet Ward.

Immediately after the fire was detected, local authorities coordinated with police, military personnel, forest rangers, mass organizations and local residents to contain the blaze.

By around 10:30 p.m. the same day, the fire had been largely brought under control. However, because the affected area is located on steep mountainous terrain covered with dry shrubs and vegetation, the fire flared up again at around 10 a.m. on June 28.

In response, authorities in Tam Chuc Ward evacuated residents and their property while temporarily closing National Highway 21A through the affected area to ensure public safety.

Nearly 200 personnel, supported by specialized fire engines, hand tools and local response forces, were deployed to extinguish the fire. Preliminary estimates as of 2 p.m. on June 28 showed that approximately 3,000-3,500 square meters of forest had been damaged, mainly involving ground vegetation, shrubs and climbing plants.

Initial findings indicate that the wildfire was caused by a lightning strike on the evening of June 27, with the fire spreading from the mountain summit down the slopes of Cao San Mountain.
