VietNamNet Bridge – From the tenth to eleventh months of the lunar calendar, the flooding season comes to an end in the Mekong Delta. But that marks the start of the migratory linh fish (Siamese mud carp) season.
In the morning, people row their boats to deep-water areas and set up nets for catching linh fish

A family can catch 100 kg of the fish or above a day on average, which is retailed to local residents or wholesaled to traders. Siamese mud carp is a major source of income for many families in the delta in the flooding season. The fish costs VND20,000 to VND25,000 per kilo on the market (US$1 = VND22,500).
The volume of Siamese mud carp caught a year depends on rainfall in the rainy season. There were years in which fish remained abundant until the final lunar month of year, or the start of year in the solar calendar.
