Dinh Quang Linh defended his men’s singles title on the last day of the National Table Tennis Championships at Ho Xuan Huong Gymnasium in HCM City on May 15.

Veteran Linh from the Military team beat Hanoian Nguyen Anh Tu 4-3 in the final.

On the women’s side, Mai Hoang My Trang of Petrosetco HCM City easily defeated Hanoi’s Nguyen Thi Nga 4-0 to win the gold medal.

The annual tournament, which was co-organised by the Nhan Dan Newspaper, the National Sports Administration and the Vietnam Table Tennis Federation, attracted the participation of 160 players from 18 delegations nationwide competing for seven sets of medals.

Police become new tennis team champion

The Police took former champions Military 1’s crown at the National Tennis Team Championship yesterday in Dak Nong Province.

Ngo Duc Duong defeated Tran Hoang Anh Khoa 7-5, 7-5 in the first singles match.

His teammate Hoang Thanh Trung then thrashed Le Cong Tien 6-1, 6-2 in the later game.

HCM City 1 and Military 2 shared third place.

On Sunday, HCM City 1 overcame HCM City 2 to take the women’s title.

Da Nang and Kien Giang 1 claimed bronze medals.
