The Viet Nam Football Federation is planning to invite European giants Liverpool to play in Hà Nội this summer.

"Liverpool have plans to tour Asia this summer, and Việt Nam might be one of their destinations," VFF General Secretary Lê Hoài Anh told vietnamnet.vn.

"The VFF will try (to invite them here) but their visit will rely on different issues. The VFF will have to seek sponsorship from our partners," said Anh.

Local media reported that Liverpool would visit Thailand and China during the trip. If everything goes to plan, the match against Việt Nam will be held in May at Mỹ Đình Stadium.

The club, home to world-class players such as Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Xherdan Shaqiri, are flying high in the English Premier League.

Việt Nam welcomed Arsenal in 2013 and Manchester City in 2017. — VNS
