National number one hope Ly Hoang Nam entered the second round of the Vietnam F1 Futures-Becamex IDC Cup on July 25 in Binh Duong Province.

Ranked 874th in the world, Nam defeated fellow countryman Trinh Linh Giang 6-4, 6-1 in the first round match.

He will next play the winner of the match between Seong Chang Hong of South Korea and Kittiphong Wachiramanowong of Thailand.

Seong is the tournament’s first seed, while Kittiphong defeated Nam in the Davis Cup last week.

Nam plans to win at least one of nine Men’s Futures tournaments to be organised in Binh Duong this year. He aims to break into the world’s top 500 rankings in 2016.

In an earlier match, Vu Artem of Vietnam was beaten 3-6, 2-6 by Thai player Trongcharoenchaikul Wishaya.

The tournament is being held from July 25 to 31, and will give US$10,000 to the winners.
