Ly Hoang Nam suffered a shock defeat in the second round of the Vietnam Men’s Futures F8 tennis tournament’s singles event yesterday in the Binh Duong Province.

Nam, who was seeded No 4, was defeated 7-5, 4-6, 2-6 by Japan’s Ken Onishi in a match that was delayed twice because of rain.

Last week, Nam had beaten unseeded Onishi rather easily at the F7 tournament at the same venue.

Vietnam now has no other contestant left in Binh Duong.

The finals are scheduled to take place on Sunday and winners will fight for US$10,000 and bonus points.
