Top tennis player Ly Hoang Nam cannot attend the Davis Cup 2017, Asia/Oceania Zone Group 2 because of injury, according to General Secretary of Vietnam Tennis Federation (VTF) Doan Quoc Cuong.

Cuong said Nam was hurt when competing at the professional tennis tournament in Japan.

As a result, there are only 3 Vietnamese tennis players can compete at the competition, including Nguyen Hoang Thien, Pham Minh Tuan, and Le Quoc Khanh.

Earlier, Nam has jumped 36 spots to world No 591 in the latest Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) men’s singles rankings.

It is the best ranking in his career and a new high for tennis in the country.
