VietNamNet Bridge – As many as 9,000 students from universities and colleges across the country are participating in a host of activities under the “Students with nation’s sea and islands 2013” program.
The four mascots made of 300 kg of onion and garlic, the specialties of Ly Son Island of Quang Ngai province, are on display at the exhibition "Hoang Sa - Truong Sa with island and sea cultural heritage".
The Chairman of Hoang Sa Island District said that the exhibition of documentary affirming Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa Archipelago will open its doors to foreign tourists on the upcoming holiday (April 30) at the museum of Da Nang City.
More than 20 ancient wooden houses of 150-200 years old have been preserved very well on the island of Ly Son. These are miniature museums and "eyewitnesses" of Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagoes.
On February 17, 8 boats carrying the icons of dragon, unicorn, turtle and phoenix joined the final race in the waters of Ly Son Island in Quang Ngai province, to the cheers of thousands of local residents and visitors.
VietNamNet Bridge - Ly Son is not only a front-post island of the country but also the homeland of the sailor-soldiers of the Hoang Sa Flotilla who went out to the East Sea to defend the sovereignty of the country.
The Government has approved a project to install submarine cables to transmit power to the Ly Son Island district, with a total investment of nearly VND1 trillion ($50 million).
