On the morning of June 24, Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police reported that they are investigating the cause of the fire at Thuyen Lam Pagoda, located on Dien Bien Phu Street, Hue City.

According to initial information, the fire was reported around 10 p.m. on June 23, with smoke billowing from the main hall of the pagoda.

Dozens of officers, soldiers, and several vehicles from the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of the Thua Thien – Hue Provincial Police were quickly mobilized to the scene. They coordinated with other functional forces to participate in rescue and fire extinguishing efforts.

By around 11 p.m., the fire was basically under control. However, the main hall, measuring nearly 200 square meters, and many of its belongings were severely damaged by the fire.

Thuyen Lam Pagoda is a famous ancient pagoda in Hue, situated on Duong Xuan hill. It was built during the reign of the Nguyen lords and has been recently renovated and repaired.

The loss of the main hall and its contents is a significant blow to the historical and cultural heritage of the region.
