According to initial reports, the police force caught Hoang Thi Lam red-handed whilst she was carrying 20 wraps of heroin on a Hanoi-Lang Son passenger coach on National Highway 1A in Chi Lang commune.

Upon conducting a search of her house, the police seized VND310 million along with other suspicious items.

The suspect, who is 45 years old and resides in Ta Lai village, Tan My commune, Van Lang district, admitted that she had bought heroin in Vietnam’s northwestern provinces and then transported it to Lang Son province. She then co-operated with Chinese nationals in order to transport the drugs into China where they were to be sold on.

Lang Son police have started legal proceedings against the woman for being involved in a major drug trafficking network.
