Nguyen Chi Thanh Street in Hanoi which has been named as the most beautiful road in Vietnam will be expanded to 10 lanes with the intention of easing traffic congestions.

The frequent traffic jams on the street have been attributed to the construction of buildings along the street along with a sharp increase in the number of cars.

According to deputy head of Hanoi Department of Transport Ngo Manh Tuan, the project to expand the street will see the 17-metre median strip on Nguyen Chi Thanh Street cut to 4.5 metres to expand on the current four lanes. Trees grown on the median strip will be also relocated.
