The trial heard arguments between representatives of Malaysian investigation agency and Huong’s lawyers about evidences against Huong.

Representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia and Malaysian lawyers attended the hearing to protect legitimate rights of Huong. They held that the evidence given by the local investigation agency is not adequate, not reliable and unconvincing.

On the sidelines of the court, the embassy’s representatives, who had a meeting with Huong, said that the physical and mental health of the Vietnamese young woman was stable.

The court will organise the next hearing for Huong on April 2.

The embassy will continue working closely with lawyers of Huong and relevant agencies to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the Vietnamese citizen.

Huong and another suspect of the case, Siti Aisyah – a Malaysian citizen, were arrested one day after the murder of Kim Chol happened on February 13, 2017. So far, both of them have continued affirming that they are innocent as they thought they were joining a harmless prank for a reality TV show. If found guilty, they may face death penalty.-VNA
