Passengers receive their luggage at Noi Bai International Airport. A male passenger is banned from travelling by air for nine months after threatening airport security staff with using a mine.

According to the Vietnam Aviation Agency, Le Tuan Huu was boarding a flight from Hanoi to Cam Ranh City in the southern central coastal province of Khanh Hoa at Noi Bai International Airport on Sunday.

The agency said the man’s action was a threat to security and he should be penalised, according to Dan Tri news website.

The ban took effect from September 16 this year to June 15, 2018.

Vietnam Airlines has asked all airlines departing from Vietnam to ensure Le Tuan Huu is not allowed to travel.

Previously, two female passengers were also suspended from air travel for six months after creating a disturbance by arguing on the plane.
