The eight national parks which will face the inspection are Yen Tu in Quang Ninh, Hoang Lien in Lao Cai, Ba Be in Bac Can, Phong Nha-Ke Bang in Quang Binh, Phu Quoc in Kien Giang, Con Dao in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Nui Chua in Ninh Thuan and Ba Na-Nui Chua nature reserves in Danang.

The inspection taskforce also has the participation from representatives of the ministries of Natural Resources and Environment, Construction, Finance and Culture, Sports and Tourism. The inspection will focus on business activities of the national parks’ eco-tourism services to detect violations.

The move followed violations of Le Mont Ba Vi Resort and Spa at Ba Vi National Park in Hanoi.

The Le Mont Ba Vi Resort and Spa, invested by the Company for Technology and Development (CFTD), has been built at Ba Vi National Park since 2008.

The Le Mont Ba Vi Resort and Spa has been illegally built in Ba Vi National Park in Hanoi

The Ba Vi National Park had signed a contract with CFTD, Pco Tourism and Investment Joint Stock Company, Ba Vi Investment Joint Stock Company and Quang Long Ltd. Co. to develop eco-tourism projects over 53 years from October 2008 to October 2061 without permission from management agencies.

Meanwhile, the four firms were supposed to pay compensation to the national park for the damage suffered during the project implementation.

Last year, the MARD asked Vietnam Administration of Forestry to suspend the unlicensed construction of the projects at Ba Vi National Park.

Ba Vi National Park was established in January 1991 in an area of more than 10,800ha, spread across three districts of Hanoi and two in Hoa Binh Province.
