Quang Ninh province will start vaccinating its people with the third vaccine dose against Covid-19 from December 18. The province plans to complete the booster dose to people aged 18 and over in the first quarter of 2022.

In the northern port city of Hai Phong, the third dose will be given to priority groups - people aged 50 and older with moderate or severe immunodeficiency.

In the central province of Nghe An, about 10,000 people aged 50 and over with underlying diseases, and others 50 years old and above have had the booster dose.

Storm Rai to enter East Sea

Rai is forecast to lose its strength when it moves closer to Vietnam’s coasts on December 19.

Rai was about 800km east of the Philippines on December 15 morning, packing winds of approximately 100kph. 

The storm is anticipated to intensify into a typhoon with winds gusting around 155kph near its centre when it sweeps across the Philippines on December 16 before moving into the East Sea, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

Rai is forecast to lose its strength when it moves closer to Vietnam’s coasts on December 19. The National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control has asked localities to put force on standby and urgently inform their fishing vessels operating at sea.

Vietnam Airlines to sell 27 aircraft

Vietnam Airlines will have redundant aircraft by 2025, according to the corporation’s CEO Le Hong Ha. Next year, Vietnam Airlines will have 8 wide-body and 22 narrow-body aircraft not in use.

The airline is restructuring its fleet, as well as negotiating with the lessor to get assistance such as canceling and delaying the receipt of aircraft until 2023, reducing costs, and extending payments. At the same time, it will sell some aircraft, specifically 15 aircraft this month and 12 in the next two years.
