Both had impressive achievements at high school and were top scorers in math on the entrance exam to Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted.

In the 2024–2025 academic year, Hien and Hau together won First Prize in the National Excellent Student Competition in Mathematics. Afterward, the brothers went on to win Gold Medals at the Turkmenistan Mathematics Exchange Olympiad. 

In previous years, both won First Prizes in provincial excellent student competitions, Gold Medals at the Northern Delta and Coastal Region Olympic Competition, and Gold Medals at the National Student Mathematics Olympiad. Both also won awards at the Iranian Geometry Olympiad. Individually, Tri Hau also won a Gold Medal at the Traditional 30-4 Olympiad.

Hien and Hau's love for math began in sixth grade. Fatherless from a young age, the two brothers grew up under their mother's care. Coming from a difficult family background, neither had the financial means for extra tutoring classes. 

Most of their knowledge was from textbooks, reference books, and online materials. The two brothers studied together, analyzed difficult math problems, tried multiple solutions, and only consulted answer keys when completely stuck. Gradually, math became a shared passion for both.

Throughout their years at Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted, Hien and Hau continued to study, discuss and engage in healthy competition with each other. One's achievements served as the motivation for the other to strive further.

Many new students with outstanding achievements 

At the beginning of the 2026–2027 academic year, the University of Natural Sciences, VNU-HCMC welcomed many new students with remarkable accomplishments in national exams, intellectual competitions, and international contests.

Tran Dai Thanh Danh is one of the prominent faces of the 2026 admissions class at the University of Science, VNU-HCMC. Danh won a Silver Medal at the 2026 International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), a Gold Medal at the 2026 Asian Pacific Mathematics Olympiad, and won First Prize in the National Excellent Student Contest in Mathematics for two consecutive years. Thanh Danh was admitted to the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science.

Vo Dang Tue, a former student at Chi Lang High School (Gia Lai), was the top high school graduation scorer in his province and the top scorer in the A00 exam group (mathematics, physics, chemistry) across the entire province.

Dang Tue holds a series of outstanding achievements in technology, innovation, and AI: Encouragement Prize at the International Drone Programming Competition in South Korea; Gold and Silver Medals at the World Invention and Innovation Olympiad (WICO); Gold Medal and runner-up title at Youth Tech Asia Challenge 2025; Amaze Award at the IDE Series in Singapore; and Third Prize at the 2025 National Artificial Intelligence Olympiad. Dang Tue is a new student in the Advanced Program in Computer Science.

Nguyen Gia Khanh, a former student at Le Khiet High School for the Gifted (Quang Ngai), was the top scorer in the A01 exam group (math, physics, English) in the 2026 High School Graduation Examination in Quang Ngai Province, and also won First Prize in the provincial excellent student contest in Mathematics for the 2025–2026 academic year.

Nguyen Ngoc Tran, a former student of Pham Thanh Trung High School (Dong Thap), was the top scorer in the A00 combination in the 2026 High School Graduation Examination in Dong Thap Province, and also won Second Prize in the provincial excellent student contest in Chemistry for the 2025–2026 academic year.

Nguyen Cao Long Khanh, a former student of Vinh Linh High School (Quang Tri), was the top scorer in the A01 combination in the 2026 High School Graduation Examination in Quang Tri Province. 

Long Khanh had previously won an Encouragement Prize in the provincial excellent student contest in Computer Science, Second Prize in the provincial science and technology contest for the 2023–2024 academic year; First Prize in the provincial excellent student contest in English and an Encouragement Prize in the national excellent student contest in English for the 2024–2025 academic year; and Second Prize in the provincial excellent student contest in Physics for the 2025–2026 academic year.

Huynh Ngoc Nhan, a former student of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (Da Nang), was the top scorer in the 2026 High School Graduation Examination in Da Nang City under the X26 exam group (math, English, informatics). Ngoc Nhan had previously won First Prize in the 2024 National High School ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest). Ngoc Nhan is a new student in the Advanced Program in Computer Science.

Huynh Nghia Nhan, a former student of Thoai Ngoc Hau High School for the Gifted (An Giang), was the top scorer in the province's 2026 High School Graduation Examination under the A00 combination. In 2025, Nghia Nhan won Second Prize in the provincial excellent student contest in Mathematics. Nhan is a new student in the Advanced Program in Computer Science.

Tran Tien Dat was the top scorer in the 2026 HCMC National University Competency Assessment Exam. Dat scored 1,139/1,200 points in the second phase of the 2026 Competency Assessment Exam, becoming the top scorer of the exam and the highest-scoring candidate in the exam's history. Tien Dat was admitted to the Advanced Program in Computer Science.

Doan Thanh Tung is the Second Prize winner of Road to Olympia 2025. Thanh Tung became a new student in Biotechnology - English Enhanced Program.

Nguyen Nhut Lam is the Third Prize winner of Road to Olympia 2025. Nhut Lam became a new student in Chemistry - English Enhanced Program.
