Driven by the vision of minimizing plastic waste, employing sustainable materials, and simultaneously spearheading technological advancements to enhance customer service, McDonald's Vietnam has received the Golden Dragon Award for the 6th consecutive time.

The award was presented at the 4th Vietnam Development Bridge Forum 2024 (Vietnam Connect Forum) and the 23rd Golden Dragon Awards program, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnam Economic Review, and the Hai Phong City People's Committee on April 8th. This year's forum aimed at promoting a green and sustainable economy, aligning with the overarching global trend pursued by businesses.

McDonald's Vietnam received the Golden Dragon Award for six consecutive years for its impressive achievements in the journey towards a green economy and sustainable development, closely linked with technology to optimize customer services.

Towards a green and sustainable economy

McDonald’s consistently earns and maintains customer trust through its quality service and diverse menus tailored to local preferences. McDonald’s is recognized for its initiatives aimed at reducing plastic waste, transitioning towards packaging materials that are more environmentally friendly, and switching toy products to more sustainable materials.

Since 2018, McDonald’s has reduced the amount of pure plastic in Happy Meal toys by 47.8%. Moreover, plastic in Happy Meal toys has been replaced with more sustainable materials worldwide. This initiative aligns with the transition of product packaging to sustainable materials, such as replacing plastic cups with paper cups.

The company is committed to environmental stewardship. To date, McDonald's has established a foundation in the journey of sustainable forest protection and sourcing by achieving certifications such as:

- Palm oil: RSPO certification - An independent supply chain certification aimed at demonstrating sustainable and ethical palm oil sourcing.

- Paper & Packaging Forest Stewardship Council Chain of Custody Certifications: Certifications by the Forest Stewardship Council for the product journey of packaging materials.

- Rainforest Alliance Certified Coffee: Certification ensuring biodiversity conservation and sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices, and consumer behavior for coffee products.

With just one simple click, customers can easily download the McDonald’s app onto their mobile devices and enjoy numerous benefits such as enticing offers, loyalty points, gift redemption, delivery services, gaming, menu browsing, locating the nearest store, and providing direct feedback to store management... Especially for first-time app users, they will receive a complimentary offer of either a crispy, juicy chicken piece with fries or a cheeseburger.
