The news was announced at a ceremony honoring more than 300 individuals and 25 collectives for their contributions to science, technology, and innovation at UMP HCMC in 2023-2025.

The Lancet is a globally renowned medical journal with a history of more than 200 years, highly regarded by the academic community for publishing research with major impacts on clinical practice and health policy.

The IF is a metric that measures the influence of a scientific journal, reflecting the average number of citations per article over a certain period. A higher IF indicates greater prestige and influence within the academic community.

The paper by Dr. Lan was about a randomized controlled clinical trial, titled “Livebirth rate after one frozen embryo transfer in ovulatory women starting with natural, modified natural, or artificial endometrial preparation in Vietnam: an open-label randomised controlled trial.”

Scientists honored

At the ceremony, in the category of scientists with outstanding achievements in international publications during 2023-2025, the HCMC University of Medicine and Pharmacy honored 55 scientists who published papers in prestigious international journals with an IF of 3.0 or higher.

Among these, Dr. Lan's article in The Lancet is considered a prominent highlight, making a strong mark for Vietnamese science on the international medical research map.

In the same category, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Quach Trong Duc, Deputy Head of the Department of General Internal Medicine of the university, was also recognized for six articles published in international journals with an IF of 3.0 or higher, including an article in the journal Gut with an IF of 23.
