A former student of Nguyen Trai High School in Khanh Hoa, Khoi scored 1,112 out of 1,200 on the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) Competency Assessment Test, achieving a perfect 300 in math, 269 in Vietnamese, 270 in English, and 273 in scientific reasoning.
In the national high school graduation exam, Khoi scored 27.25 in the A01 group with perfect 10s in math and physics, and 7.25 in English. With an IELTS score of 6.5, his English was converted to a perfect score of 10.
"Learning from mistakes is the fastest way to improve," said Khoi. He believes every mistake is a chance to review and refine knowledge. When practicing test questions, he focused not only on scoring high but also on identifying weak areas for targeted review. With a belief in understanding concepts rather than rote memorization, Khoi emphasized learning correctly over learning excessively and avoiding burnout.
Khoi chose computer science because he discovered his passion for it in grade 10 when he first wrote a simple Python program to solve an online problem. Since then, he explored other programming languages, joined coding clubs both at school and online, and actively participated in tech forums and school-organized STEM competitions.

Tri was the top math student at Quoc Hoc - Hue High School for the Gifted three years ago. Despite scoring 1,047 in the first round of the Competency Assessment Test, he took the test again to achieve a perfect score in math. In the second round, he scored a perfect 300 in math, 284 in scientific reasoning, 260 in English, and 278 in Vietnamese. In the high school graduation exam, he also scored 27.25 in the A01 group.
Tri views mathematics not only as a passion but as a source of both joy and challenge. After failing to qualify for the national excellent student competition in grade 11, he debated between continuing that path or focusing on graduation and competency assessment exams.
"I realized I needed to build a strong foundation in all graduation subjects since it benefits both exams," he explained. Months before the assessment, he focused on reviewing specialized topics and intensive test practice. He cautioned against focusing solely on one exam format, as it carries risks.
After facing several setbacks, Tri learned that past glory fades, and perseverance, resilience, and learning from failure are key to future success.

With nearly perfect scores of 10 in math, 10 in physics, and 9.75 in chemistry, former Luong Van Chanh High School student (Phu Yen) Lam Minh Huy became the national runner-up in the A00 group and top scorer in Dak Lak province.
Huy also achieved 1,101 in the Competency Assessment Test, including a perfect 300 in scientific reasoning, 261 in Vietnamese, 261 in English, and 279 in math.
"I didn’t cram too much at once or overload on mock tests," Huy shared. He preferred methodical, deep learning in each subject. Whether in class or self-study, he remained focused, only relaxing after finishing lessons to recharge.
Now pursuing a degree in electrical and electronic engineering, Huy aims to excel in university, win scholarships, and join academic projects to build a strong knowledge and skills foundation for the long term.
