The Mekong Delta Cycling Tournament is scheduled to kick off on August 13 in Phu Quoc District in the southern province of Kien Giang.




The event will attract the participation of 15 teams across the country such as HCM City, Hanoi, the Military, Can Tho, and Ben Tre.

Riders will compete in a 1,043km nine-stage race through 13 cities and provinces including An Giang, Kien Giang and Ca Mau.

The team and individual event winners of the tournament will receive a total of VNĐ320 million (US$14,500) in prizes.

Nguyen Thanh Tam, who triumphed at the recent HCM City Television Cycling Cup, is a candidate for the title of the Mekong Delta event.
