Besides being suspended for five matches, Tài was also fined VNĐ25 million (US$1,300). He must also bear the cost to treat midfielder Dương Văn Hào of Viettel.

Earlier, on May 4, Tài made an error when vying for the ball with Hào, during which Hào suffered a broken calf-bone and tear in the ligaments of his ankle.

Hào is likely to retire from the competition following the injury.

Two years ago, Tài was also responsible for injuring striker Moreira Jesuino Osmar Francisco of Hoàng Anh Gia Lai, who suffered a broken leg in the national premier league.

Meanwhile, Long An said they will appeal to the VFF.

“It is an accident, not an intentional foul. We think the punishment is too severe,” said Lê Minh Trí, CEO of Long An. — VNS
