President Tran Dai Quang recently presented promotions to four high-ranking military officers.

Four officers who were promoted to Senior Lieutenant General rank were Tran Don, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Defence; Le Chiem, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Defence; Nguyen Phuong Nam, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army; and Rear Admiral Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Quang said the promotion represents the acknowledgement of the Party, State and people for the contributions and advancement of each officer in particular and the people’s armed forces in general.

He asked the promoted officers to further heighten their political perception, revolutionary morals and professional knowledge to excellently accomplish all tasks entrusted by the Party and State.

On January 3, the Ministry of Public Security also held a ceremony to announce the President’s decision on promotion of a number of police officers.

The ceremony saw the presence of Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Politburo member, Minister of the Public Security.

In his speech, Minister To Lam urged the promoted officers to continue to exert more efforts to fulfil their assigned tasks, as well as contribute to protecting the country’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as national security and interests, serving the country’s socio-economic development.
