Minister of Public Security To Lam (R) receives Special Ambassador for Japan-Vietnam Relationships Sugi Ryotaro on September 22
Talking to Special Ambassador Ryotaro, Minister To Lam stressed that Vietnam has been assisted in fire prevention and control and rescue by the Japanese Government, which has provided used fire trucks and rescue equipment for the country.
The Fire and Rescue Police Department of Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security has given 327 fire engines and specialised trucks supported by Japan to 63 local firefighting units nationwide, he noted.
He expressed his hope that Ambassador Ryotaro, the Japan Firefighters Association and the Society for Promotion of Japanese Diplomacy will ensure the quantity, quality and provision schedule of firefighting equipment. He also asked them to support his country in personnel training.
Ryotaro said he expects Vietnam-Japan relations will grow more and more strongly and harvest good outcomes in all fields of cooperation, particularly in fire prevention and control and rescue.
Later, Minister Lam and the Japanese ambassador witnessed the signing of a project on the Japanese Embassy’s supply of used fire trucks for the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam.
Meeting with Turkish Ambassador Akif Ayhan, the minister highlighted the enhanced Vietnam-Turkey cooperation, especially since an official visit to Vietnam by Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim last August.
The Vietnamese ministry set up effective cooperative relations with law enforcement agencies of Turkey. Notably, they signed anti-crime cooperation programmes, creating a legal corridor for the two countries to work together to address crime-related issues.
Lam asked Ambassador Ayhan to engage in more activities to promote development cooperation in the spheres both countries are interested in.
For his part, the Turkish diplomat affirmed that he will serve as an important bridge strengthening bilateral cooperation, including relations between Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security and law enforcement agencies of Turkey.
